How much are materials likely to cost?
We will have a limited amount of copper for you to use and some day workshops materials are included it the course fee. However if you want to work in silver and gem stones you are expected to buy this yourself.
The cost of extra materials is dependant on your design, a simple silver ring can be as little as a few pounds. If you want to create a heavy wide silver bangle the cost could be from £45 to £60 (please note this is a guide as metal prices do fluctuate) Gem stones can be bought from a few pence up to hundreds of pounds.
Will I have to source materials myself?
We are always on hand to help you order metals and gems. We will have catalogues for suppliers we use. Most of our suppliers will post items out for next day delivery.
What materials - metals or gem stones am I going to be using?
We supply some copper, but you can use sterling silver, or any carat of gold however gold can be very expensive. You can use any gem stones, we will have reference books to help you to choose appropriate stones.
Is there a qualification?
No, our classes are 'just for fun'. However we would like to encourage our students to start a sketch book (any size). To record drawings, attach images of interest and make notes of processes.
What skills will I learn?
Each course and day workshop has information on the booking tab, this will give you a guide as to the making processes. If you would like to learn/develop a specific technique and it is not mentioned in any of the course description please email us!
Do I need to buy any tools?
